Awards are just a starting point
The PRWeek Awards provided PR professionals with a moment to stop to acknowledge industry achievements and reflect [in theory, that is]. Throughout dinner, the Awards, and the receptions, I noticed guests couldn’t help but wave down former colleagues, pull up a chair to discuss an upcoming project, or even check Blackberry’s during a prolonged lull in conversation. The high energy of the awards was characteristic of a profession, where sitting still and not moving forward, is definitely unusual. A judge remarked to me, that every year the stakes are a little bit higher, with agencies eyeing each other and improving, in the spirit of competition. So, for me, the awards were as much a celebration, as a challenge for the work to be done in the year ahead.
