The Cycle

Nothing like a nice bonus

The Washington Post today has a nice scoop documenting the bonuses that officials at the FDA have enjoyed to prevent them from fleeing to lucrative jobs in the private sector. The cash bonuses have quadrupled since 2002, a time when the agency has faced increasing criticism for its practices. The story also appears to make the case that many of the largest bonuses were given to employees who had long been working in the government and were therefore unlikely to flee to the private sector anyway.
