While the Quaker Oats Cedar Rapids facility is submerged in flood water, the internal PR team for its parent company PepsiCo. is focused on keeping both employees and consumers apprised of the situation, according to P.J. Sinopoli, VP of communications for PepsiCo-Chicago. Sinopoli said that given the possibility that technology like e-mail can fail in this type of climate, the team is using “all media mechanisms possible,” including text messaging to employees. Sinopoli said an outside PR agency was assisting, but declined to provide a name.
