A boost from Big Brown
As Big Brown attempts to win the Belmont Stakes, and with it, the Triple Crown, on June 7, the sport of horse racing is hoping this positive story will boost an industry that has been struggling, especially after the euthanizing of Eight Belles at the Kentucky Derby.
Big Brown, which is sponsored by UPS, is gaining popularity among fans, and a Web site, BigBrownTripleCrown.com, has been chronicling news about the horse leading up to the Belmont Stakes. If the horse wins the first Triple Crown since Affirmed in 1978, how will this affect the image of horse racing? Will those in the sport use the news in PR efforts? I guess we’ll have to wait and see if Big Brown can pull off the big win first.
