Number of magazine digital product launches jumps
Magazines are getting the message that they need to create dynamic and interesting digital initiatives to engage users. During 2008’s first quarter, magazines announced 65 new digital initiatives, an increase of 14% over 2007, according to research from the Magazine Publishers of America.
The titles putting additional emphasis on Web 2.0 run the gamut from financial publications (BusinessWeek, Forbes, Fortune, and Kiplinger’s Personal Finance) to sports magazines (ESPN the Magazine and Sports Illustrated) to publications targeting specific ethnic audiences (Essence, Ebony, and People en Espanol).
