The Cycle

You Too(ube), Manchester United?

I suppose when the world’s most popular soccer team starts signing nine-year-olds based on a DVD submission that has already been viewed 800,000 times on , you can confidently say social-media fans may be onto something.

Manchester United has signed , an English native who currently lives in Australia. The British press has hailed him as the next Wayne Rooney.

Obviously, the fact that United is signing players in the single-digit-age category is noteworthy, but not more so than the fact that the club got wind of this kid only after Davis’ grandfather sent them said DVD.

It’s not such a stretch to assume that any sports team trying to find the next pre-teen sensation will be checking out YouTube to try and trump their rivals.
