Targeting social networks, down to a hair
One good thing about being an online social-network butterfly: You don’t have to think too much about the state of your hair. Bedhead, split ends, three glaring inches of roots — these inconvenient coiffe conditions matter not to your keyboard and screen. (Yes, even if you use a Mac.)
NaturallyCurly.com intends to change this. The site, which identifies itself as “the world’s largest social network and Web site devoted to curly hair,” this week hired one Crista Bailey as VP of marketing. And according to the site’s founders, Bailey is an “integral part of our plans for building our brand and presence across the Web.”
A quick Yahoo search for “social network hair” yields mostly unrelated results. Is there much competition in this category? Are there also social networks for the long-haired, the buzz-cut, the permed, and the bald?
