A thought, that just occurred

Admittedly, I haven’t seen much of an uproar re: Microsoft, Wired, and Waggener Edstrom (see here), but that it could have spiraled into some calamity interested me.

Why? Because it’s obvious to me that the publics, in the Internet age, have more or less forfeited any notion of privacy. Nearly every Web enhancement is a strike against privacy (track your data, have your entire banking history on a server, et.al.). That’s fine; I’m certainly not complaining.

But, vis-a-vis a PR person taking notes, I found this peculiar given how much people put of themselves online, via blogs, podcasts, whatnots. But that’s it - individuals want to be the ones cataloging themselves. It’s totally fine to have a dossier on oneself, as long as “I” am the author.
